School Based Health Clinics
Bangor Schools
Description: All students in any Bangor school have access to the School-Based Health Center which is located at Bangor High School. The clinic provides health care services right in the school. Even if the child has a primary care provider elsewhere, he/she can receive immediate and on-site medical and mental health care at the school-based health center (SBHC). This service is made possible through a program with Penobscot Community Health Care (PCHC). Students do not need to be PCHC patients to use the clinic.
Location: Bangor High School
885 Broadway, Bangor, ME 04401
Telephone Number: 207-404-8247
Contact Person: Sarah Burby
Hours: School Days: 8AM-2 PM
Available by appointment or walk-in
Website: https://pchc.com/location/bangor-school-based-health-center/
Cost: Variable. Accepts MaineCare and participates in the PCHC Sliding Scale Program.
Sports Physicals are $47 and are not covered by MaineCare. To avoid paying a fee for sports physicals, do not schedule an appointment but ask the primary care provider to fill out the forms based on the most recent annual physical.
Other Things to Know: It is best to call ahead to ensure that a provider is available when you plan to go.
It is recommended that you complete the enrollment packet for all students in anticipation of having to use the clinic at a future date. All the forms (except the Authorization to Release Medical Information) remain valid until the student graduates from high school. The Authorization to Release Medical Information form is valid for 30 months. If their primary care provider is not a PCHC provider, an Authorization to Release Medical Information form should be filled out with the primary care provider’s name so that the primary care provider will obtain a record of the visit.
There are plans to open school-based clinics in both the Cohen and Doherty Middle Schools in 2024-2025.

Brewer Schools
Description: The school-based health clinics provide the same professional medical care as at one of PCHC’s family medical practices. Children do not need to be a PCHC patient to enroll in the school-based health care program. If a child is sick, parents can bring the child to the school clinic instead of a walk-in care clinic. Wait times at the school-based clinic are usually much shorter than elsewhere.
